I got my first tattoo when I was 18, and if I had the TatTap back then, it probably could have saved me from getting the worst tattoo of my life.  TatTap lets you try on tattoos before you even get the tattoo put on your skin.  This is an incredible feature, especially if you are going through about twenty tattoos that you really like but can’t decide on.

Another killer feature of this app is that it lets you rate and get ratings on tattoos.  My first tattoo, which in hindsight was not a good choice; I had a buddy tattoo a rattlesnake on my left shoulder and it turned out to look like, well not a rattlesnake, anyway, if I’ve since had it fixed up but it’s gotten some bad ratings.  My other tats from professional artists have received some great ratings so, anyway that feature makes for a nice ego boost.

TatTap can also help you find some really cool artists in your area.   We’ve had about 6 tattoo parlors open and close in the last 7 months and finding these guys can be hard sometimes.  TatTap will tell you where they are located; it actually shows you on a map how to get there.  More importantly though, TatTap allows member comments about the artist and the parlors and even lets you add your favorite parlors so others can find them.  There are already 10,000 parlors in the TatTap tattoo database so you should be able to find at least a couple to choose from.

The member forum is also a great feature.  It lets you talk to other ink enthusiasts, you can ask or answer questions and you can make some new friends.  Pretty much everyone is cool in the forums so it’s pretty laid back and friendly.

TatTap lets you upload a picture of yourself and then virtually apply the tattoo that you want.  Then you can check it out and you can even show your artist exactly where you want it inked.  That is probably one of the best features, but there are so many and that’s what makes this app a must have if you like, want or have tattoos.

TatTap was developed by people that appreciate tattoo art.  You can even rate the tats of rock stars and celebrities.  Reading some of the member comments cracks me up.  Overall, TatTap gets 10 stars from me.  I’ve even gotten the artists at my favorite parlor to start telling everyone about the app.  They use it to display they’re new art and drum up business for their parlor too.  If you want to check out more of the features in TatTap check out their website at http://www.tattap.com/ or follow them on Twitter.
