The goal of 5K Run app for Android is to get you run 5 km in 8 weeks, wherein you got to commit to run 30 minutes thrice a week. The app has a wonderful UI that initiates you into its core features. After firing up the app, simply click ‘Lets Go’ link to get started. There are three stages to the running: Warmup, Training and Cool Down. A simulated human voice announces the beginning of each stage. 5K Run for Android covers some of the basic features you expect in a runner app. At the end of the workout, a basic report on the workout duration and overall progress you’d made are shown. The different milestones are rewarded with ‘badges’ that you can share over social network. The ‘Inspiration’ link at the bottom of the screen shows inspirational quotes, in case you need some motivation to drag yourself out of the couch in the morning.
5K Run app for Android has training plans in combination with its other applications. For example, if you want to be a good runner with great abs, Fitness22 has a plan that uses both 5k Run and situps app. The completed exercises in both apps can be viewed in the History Section of either app. While 5K Run is quite useful, it strangely misses some of the fitness features such as heart rate monitor, distance covered, speed, and calorie meter. It just tells you how many minutes you’d run. The UI is intuitive, and it effectively uses the full screen mode for the best user experience. You can find the options on the left panel, while the right panel takes you to other Fitness22 apps. The navigation however showed lags sporadically, while the behavior some of the Fitness22 apps weren’t consistent enough for our liking. Otherwise, 5K Run performs commendably, its limited feature set notwithstanding.

5K Run app for Android is a perfect app for first time users – those who had never used fitness apps, but wants to get started now. It focuses on getting you to run the kilometers with the pre-set time frame. But it lacks many of the features found in comprehensive fitness apps such as heart rate monitor and calorie meter.
