Blend The Game App for Android Review

Blend: The Game app for Android is an interesting puzzler where you mix to match. But sadly, its usefulness is drastically brought down by it’s over reliance on in-app purchases. You can get the app for free from Google Play Store.

Features

Many puzzlers in Google Play Store are variations of the concept of clearing a board of blocks. Blend: The Game app for Android is not any different. But it has brought about some uniqueness to its execution. In this game app one is supposed to clear blocks that come in various colors by tapping on three or more blocks of same color. Once a group of blocks has been cleared, new ones of random colors spawn at the top of the screen to fill the gaps created by the removed blocks. The more blocks you clear, more points you win. You have twenty moves to score as much as points as possible. Still you can find many games with similar game play. What makes Blend: The Game stand out is its unique block fusing mechanic wherein you can combine any two blocks of same color to form another block of different color. Performing such combinations does not take up moves so that you can focus on strategically combining blocks to score maximum points. The graphics is good and interface quite friendly.

Blend The Game App for Android

Unfortunately, Blend: The Game for Android relies a lot on in-app purchases. For example, players can purchase the ability to change the color of any block or gain additional five moves per round. Since chance plays a big role in the game, at times, you need to have the ability to change a block’s color so as to use your twenty moves effectively. Also, to have five additional moves skews all scores in the leaderboard. It is 25% more moves and it will be impossible for anyone to manage a comparable score without using power-ups. It should be noted that power-ups can be gained by reaching 200 points or clearing ten blocks in one move. Strangely, these are impossible feats to achieve without using power-ups themselves.

Conclusion

Blend: The Game for Android is an interesting puzzle game. But the disparity created by power-ups leaves the free players high and dry. To find a place in the leader board, one is forced to use power-ups and that looks a bit unfair for a game that is sold as a free download. Otherwise, the graphics is decent and the UI user friendly. The app is also stable and responsive. Check it out if you’re in the lookout for an engaging puzzler with some variety.
