Filteract iPhone App Review
Filteract is a photo editing app for iPhone that allows you to selectively apply filters to your photos. Using its unique magic tools, you can even apply filters to different objects or shapes with a single touch or stroke. You can download Filteract – Get Selective with your Photo Filters app for free from iTunes App Store.
Features
Filteract for iPhone has a simple enough design that does not get in the way so that you can focus on the photos at hand. The dark themes contrasts the photos itself, which is a good thing from an editor’s perspective. The icons for each tool are easily recognizable. So there is no learning curve. The filters at the bottom give as preview of how your images will look like after applying said filter. This comes handy as it takes away guesswork as you’ll know how the images will look like with it applied. The filters are rendered quite quickly on the images. The photos can either be imported to Filteract from the Photo Library or get a new one clicked using your phone’s camera. You can also access an image from iCloud. Once you have the image, use your finger to scroll the filter ribbon along the bottom. As mentioned above, it shows you a preview of how the filter looks on the image before you eventually apply it. If you long press on the filter, it’ll be applied on the entire image. Double-tapping on the filter brings up the filter intensity adjustment slider, using which you can make the effect weaker or stronger.
Since Filteract is a selective filtering app, you can apply several different filters at once on a single photo. For example, you can take the entire color out of the image by applying Mono or Wane effects, and selectively color the image using other filters. Simply tap on the paint roller or magic paint tools in the toolbar to selectively apply color filters on chosen parts of the images. But since you can’t adjust the size of the paint roller, it won’t be accurate at the edges. The magic paint tool allows you to touch specific parts of the photo and the color will automatically flow through. Or you can use strokes to color specific areas. This let you color complicated shapes. Once done, you can share the images via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, or email. But the finished images have a watermark stamped across it. To get rid of it, you got to pay up $0.99.
Conclusion
Filteract – Get Selective with your Photo Filters is a reasonably good photo editing app. The filters are adjustable so you can make the effect as dramatic or as subtle as you like. The best part is that when you choose a filter, it shows a preview of the image with said filter applied. This gives you a fair perspective of how the image turns out to be with a particular filter. The magic paint tool is useful to paint complicated shapes. Overall, a reliable color and filtering app that lets you be selective about how to apply your filters on an image.
