Cloud Talk is a mobile social network that lets you post voice messages, alongside text, photos and videos. In a sense, it is like group text messaging, but with voice recordings. However, it goes without saying that you can only communicate with those who also has got Cloud Talk app in their Android devices. Cloud Talk application comes free of cost, and can be downloaded from Android market.

How Cloud Talk App Works

Once you download and install Cloud Talk, create a user account by providing a username/password, email address, and verifying that you’re about 13 years of age. By selecting suitable options, you can let the app use push notifications, and complete your profile with a name, photo and phone number. Performing an address book scan will reveal if anyone else is using the Android Cloud Talk app.

The user interface is well laid out and easy to use. At the bottom of the screen are three buttons: Communities, Private, and People. An incoming message is followed by an alert tone and a mail icon at the top of the screen. For each such message, you’ll see the contact’s photo (if any), to the left of a speech bubble that includes any text/mages, and a Play button, if it comes with an audio file. For listening to the voice, you can opt between speaker and earpiece playback. Use the drag-down gesture on the touch screen to display more incoming messages, if there are any.

Conversations appear in a SMS-like format, and the messages are received-delivered promptly. Cloud Talk app for Android also got a group-messaging functionality that lets you message each other one-on-one or in a community-specific group. Further, you can have public and private communities as you please.

On the downside, unlike Facebook/Twitter, there is no web sharing possible with CloudTalk Android application. Further, while posting to a public community, you can have your posts appear of Facebook/Twitter. Also, while checking messages in a community, like Facebook, you can like a post or follow its user as in Twitter, or even start a private conversation with the person. You’ll be notified when a new message is posted in a community to which you also belong, even though you can opt to turn off such notifications.

Final Thoughts

Cloud Talk app for Android takes mobile social networking to a new level altogether. In many ways, it has Facebook and Twitter hidden inside it somewhere. But it brings much more to the table, for e.g. voice that makes the conversation much more personal, while saving you from the trouble of making a phone call. Certainly this personal communication platform is worth a prolonged trial in your Android device, and more often than not, you won’t even attempt to uninstall it.
