AirDroid app for Android let you control your Android smartphone remotely from your PC’s web browser. But in order for it to work, you should have both the devices connected to the same WiFi network. To start with, download the app to your phone. Launch it and the app will do the most of the work for you, including creating a link between your phone and your Web browser. AirDroid is a free application.

AirDroid app for Android gives you two web addresses to make the connection between the devices. One is an IP address that makes a direct connection. Or you can use web.airdroid.com that connects your PC and phone once the supplied passcode is entered. Alternatively, you can use the app to scan an on-screen QR code that appears in the page web.airdroid.com to complete the connection. While using QR Code, note that there is a tab for Express and a separate tab and QR Code for Secure.

Once the connection is made, you can find the options to manage your device on the left hand side of the screen. If you’re running out of free space, you can use the ‘Overview’ screen to check where all the space is being taken up. File transfer is child’s play. Use drag/drop or the upload/download dialogues to transfer your files between your phone and PC. Further, it is possible to manage your apps via the browser interface. You can uninstall and application or backup your APKs in this manner. However, you got to use your phone to complete the uninstall process. But it is easy to side-load APKs via install option.

Similarly, you can manage your music/video files via AirDroid Android app easily; you can stream music from your device to your browser or set music from your playlists as your ringtone/notification alert. Using the app, you can also mange your call log/contacts or send SMS from the web interface. AirDroid application is compatible with Android OS versions 2.1 and upwards.

Conclusion

AirDroid app for Android makes management and transfer of files between your PC and phone a lot easier exercise. The app does all connectivity procedures that your job is very much limited to playing with the files. The user interface is well laid out and easy to navigate. On the downside, there is a bit of delay in sending SMS. Also, you can’t make calls from the browser. Verdict: An app worth trying out.
