Gmail Go Android App Review
Google realizes that not all places on earth have decent internet speeds. So it has come up with Gmail Go for Android – a lighter version of Gmail – for phones with lesser RAM or lower hardware specs. It got most of the features of its original version so that it won’t affect most users. And yes, it is also free.
Gmail App for Slower Internet Connections
Gmail Go app for Android is a lighter version of Gmail. It got a smart inbox that keeps your messages safe and you organised. Receive notifications when emails arrive, then read and respond both online and offline. In the inbox, you can focus on messages from friends and family first, while social and promotional emails are categorised neatly for when you have time. It is like the original Gmail app. Further, you can have multiple email account support. That is, you can set up both Gmail and non-Gmail addresses (Outlook.com, Yahoo Mail or other IMAP/POP email). Even though, Gmail Go for Android is a stripped down version of the Gmail app, you will have access to 15 GB memory space. This should be sufficient for most of the users. The app also got an efficient spam filters that will block most spam mails. You can also set spam filters to block out unwanted emails.
The UI layout is typical of Gmail. You won’t realize that it is a thinned down version of Gmail. Labelling emails also follow the same rule as in the original. Performance wise, Gmail Go app for Android is stable and responsive. The app works with almost all Android OS versions.
Lighter and Faster Inbox
To sum it up, Gmail Go app for Android works like breeze in lower end handsets. I tested it in an older version of Samsung with 1GB RAM over a slow internet connection. It just worked fine. The emails were sent without any delay. There was no lag either. Search was accurate. Integration with other email providers comes handy. Spam filtering is efficient as well. Check it out if you have a low-spec handset or lives in a place where internet connection is a bit on the slower side.
