You can have any number of apps in your Android phone. But many of these apps continuously run in the background and some of them drain your device’s battery even when they’re doing nothing. Force stopping them might not work always, whereas freezing them might result in losing all its functionality until you defrost them. However, Greenify app for Android provides a save-state style hibernating for various apps. You can get the app for free from Google Play Store.

Greenify App Features

Greenify help you identify and put the bad behaving apps into hibernation when you are not using them, stop them from lagging and battery leeching, in a unique way! They could do nothing without explicit launch by you or other apps, while still have full functionality when running in foreground, like what iOS apps act. It should be noted however that root is required to use Greenify for Android.

Unlike most task killer apps, Greenify puts apps into hibernation until the next time you launch them. While in hibernation, all its functions such as background communications and push notifications cease. When you are ready to start the app back up, simply launch it from the app tray.

Greenify App for Android

Greenify Android App is quite easy to use. Post installation, you’ll be taken to the ‘getting started’ page. There, you got to tap the ‘+’ button and the app automatically analyzes the apps installed in your phone. This falls under three categories: the ones running in the background, the apps that slow down the device, and the apps that have been launched recently. Apps that do not fall into these categories are not displayed. At the bottom of the app analyzer list is an option ‘show more apps’. Clicking on the link let you manually hibernate any app that is installed in your phone. The user interface is clean and easy to use.

Of course, there is marked difference in performance after using Greenify. But since you’re hibernating the apps, they’ll only work after you open the application again. Also, it should be kept in mind that you should keep off from hibernating certain apps such as instant messaging, alarms, cloud storage apps, launchers etc. Greenify Android App uses about 14 MB while running.

Conclusion

Greenify app for Android could solve the issue of some pesky apps running in the background even after you close it down deliberately. Since it clears up background action, the device speeds up and it tells positively on the battery life as well. It should be also noted that Greenify requires root access. Verdict: Recommended.
