John GBC Lite – GBC Emulator for Android does not work without your own files. The app is easy to use. But for a complete novice with no understanding of file systems, they might not get the full benefit of the emulator as quickly as others would. But it is not a deal breaker as new users will learn the tricks sooner than later. When John GBC Lite – GBC Emulator for Android is first loaded, it scans your phone’s entire file system for Game Boy Color ROMs. This can take a long time usually. But users who know where they’d saved the ROMs can quickly select the folder where they had saved by tapping the GAME FOLDER tab near the top of the screen. As mentioned, John GBC Lite – GBC Emulator does not come with any games pre-installed. So users got to know where to find ROMs online.
The UI is not any flashy. But nevertheless it gets the job done. The focus is one the game. The game displays wonderfully. The banner ad is a bit of annoyance though. The interface is easy to use. Someone might find the positioning of A, B buttons uncomfortable. But those can be moved around under the Layout settings submenu. Once the playtime is over, you’ll notice that the buttons at the bottom of the screen disappear to make room for the emulator. Access the menu on upper-left corner to exit. You can find the option to purchase the full version of the app in said menu. We found that John GBC Lite – GBC Emulator runs Game Boy and Game Boy Color ROMs with minimal lag. Players have the option to use save states and cheat codes, which is great. However, it does not work with Bluetooth, mobile data, or WiFi to play multiplayer games.
Conclusion
True. The days of Game Boy or Game Boy Color are long gone. But those who still harbors the nostalgia of playing Pokemon or Wario Land is certainly going to simply love John GBC Lite – GBC Emulator for Android. The smartphones are all powerful these days.
