Klyph App for Android Review
The official Facebook app sometimes tests your patience, its occasional improvements and performance updates notwithstanding. Google+, on the other hand, has got a better design. But it is not used by most people. What about an app that brings together the best of both worlds? Klyph app for Android is one such application that merges the beautiful design of Google+ with Facebook network.
Klyph App Features
Klyph Android app is much more beautiful and responsive than the official Facebook app. Those who’ve used Google+ in their phones will right away feel at home with Klyph. The first thing to note is that Klyph does not support Facebook messenger. If you use messenger regularly, you might have to use separate apps for both. Further, since Klyph is meant to replace the Facebook app, it requests an awful lots of access permissions to your Facebook account. After logging in, you’re delivered the first set of contents. As we mentioned earlier, the UI is Google+ like; even with its minimalistic design, the app still looks far better than the stock Facebook UI.
Posts are shown card style via a single feed. As you might have guessed, you can like comment and share a photo/video on a friend’s timeline right from within the feed, thanks to the buttons provided below each post. A side pop-out menu provides access to options such as Albums, Timeline, News Feed, Groups, Events, Followed People and Birthdays. If you select any of these options, the pages are again displayed in the minimal, card-based style. As far as visual customization goes, you can select from our different visual themes: light blue (default), dark blue, light green and dark green.
Like most free apps, Klyph is also ad-supported. But the banner ad at the bottom of the screen is annoying. If you want to get rid of those ads, purchase the pro-version for $2.61. Klyph uses 43 MB while running as opposed to 37 MB for the Facebook app.
Conclusion
Klyph app for Android is a third party Facebook app that merges the gorgeous interface of Google+ with Facebook network. The app does not throw any new feature into the mix that can’t be found in the official Facebook app. In that sense, Klyph is not something that is innovative. However, it is snappier and robust than the Facebook app. Verdict: If you’re a frequent mobile Facebook user, you’ll want to check this out.
