Have you had trouble extracting an archived file downloaded to your Android phone? If so, try PowerGrasp app for Android. For starters, it is a sleek and convenient archiver and file manager with ZIP, RAR, 7z, and tar support. You can get the app for free from Google Play Store.

PowerGrasp App Features

PowerGrasp app for Android is an archive extraction/creation application. It works with most mainstream archive file types, including ZIP, RAR, 7z, tar, and tar.gz archives. It is a bit of pleasant surprise that the app supports tar, and tar.gz file types whereas most file extractions app support only Zip or .rar types. However, it lacks advanced features. Something like the ability to perform batch extraction would have been just perfect. The app is also a basic file manager that let you view your extracted files or create new archive files. Even though it lacks advanced features, it has most of the basics covered.

PowerGrasp is not a great app. But it seems to be meant that way. The user interface is not impressive to say the least. The color scheme is not appealing either. The developers should have done better.

With the current crop of features, I don’t think you’ll switch from something like the ZArchiver, which has more features and quite robust. But for those looking for a basic file archiver/manager might find PowerGrasp Android app quite handy. It also suits those who want an application that covers all the basics, but does not want all the bells and whistles that come with a top end file archiving software. PowerGrasp is compatible with Android OS versions 2.2 and up.

Final Thoughts

PowerGrasp app for Android is your basic file archiving software and file manager. It covers all the basic features that you expect from a free archiver cum file manager. Support for tar, and tar.gz file types is a pleasant surprise, even though it does not bundle a useful feature like batch extraction. The user interface is average at best. The color scheme is not impressive either. Verdict: A useful free archiver and file manager with support for popular archive file types. Try it out.
