Users will be charged $1/month from 2017.

In fact, this is what sets Rebtel apart, because for an inexpensive fee, you can make calls without a WiFi connection, even when you’re traveling around in a foreign country. As per Rebtel website, they will ‘connect you through local phone lines which means you don’t need an internet connection to talk and you never have to worry about bad reception or dropping a call’. How exactly it works is a bit of mystery to us to be honest. We think they reroute the calls through local numbers so that you aren’t charged outrageous international rates.
Even though it does not require a WiFi, your phone should receive cellular signals to make the calls. Without cellular coverage, you can’t make the calls. The sound quality is found to be average. But we did not experience any disconnects that is typical in WiFi calls. The simple white and red color scheme looks good. The universally recognized icons at the top do not confuse you either. From the settings, you can perform whatever little customization you might want on your app. We loved how easy it was to find our contacts from the contacts list. Rebtel is also stable.

But the calls, once established, are stable unlike over WiFi. The UI is well designed and easy to use. The customization options are limited at best. The app is also stable and responsive.
