WeatherBug App for iPhone Review

WeatherBug app for iPhone comes handy if your city has unpredictable weather during at least some parts of the year. This free iPhone application provides you precise weather info sourced from multiple weather stations, including forecasts, alerts from the National Weather Service, radar maps, and cached data for offline viewing.

How WeatherBug App Works

WeatherBug’s interface is not the best in the league. Clearly they could have done much better than this. The search option also could have been intuitive. But the app still holds up, thanks to its core functions.

WeatherBug iPhone app offers three options to find out the local weather in your specific areas: Conditions, Radar and Cameras. ‘Conditions’ provide you with various weather info such as current temperature, rainfall measurement, high and low temperature, wind speed, heat index, humidity, dew point, and weather alerts. Also, the app gives you a 3-day weather forecast and weather info for the day in brief.

Radar provides radar images of weather conditions in your areas. It lets you save up to three cities, and their radar images. The Radar maps come with zoom feature.

Off the three, Camera perhaps is the most exciting feature of the iPhone WeatherBug app. It provides photos taken by webcams strategically placed in various locations within your locality. This gives you a better idea of the weather conditions on the ground, if you can’t go out and check it out yourself. The app lets you save three camera locations at a time.

On the downside, you can’t add a city to the saved locations if the particular city does not have a weather station. Hope the developers solve this bug in the upcoming versions/releases.

Conclusion

WeatherBug is certainly a better app that iPhone’s stock weather app. It is easy to use, even though there is still room for improvement in some areas such as the user interface and city search. However, the weather information it provided is found to be accurate most of the times. You’ll need this app if you stay in a place known for unpredictable weather during some parts of the year. The WeatherBug application can be downloaded for free from iTunes Apple Store.
