WeatherEye app for Blackberry is a free weather application from The Weather Network that delivers updated weather information to the users. If you are someone who is on the move always in Canada, this is a must-have addition in your smart phone.
The Application
WeatherEye app for Blackberry got a decent user interface with a bright sky-blue look and feel. Since it is a free app, you can’t get away with ads. But for most parts, they are unobtrusive. Clicking on the Blackberry menu button drops a scrolling menu, from which you can choose different views of the interface. That is, for example, you can have the current weather details, an hourly forecast for the next six hours, a short term forecast for the next day and a half, and a long term look at the next five days etc. The graphics on each forecast is easy to understand, much like the TV weather report.
WeatherEye Blackberry app got a link to The Weather Network‘s mobile website, which you can use if you need more weather information anytime (for example, a 14-day forecast which is not available in the app). Other features with the app includes sports and travel forecasts. The app also comes with a map option that gives you a zoom and scrollable map, to view detailed weather info at your places of choice.
Blackberry WeatherEye app also has a rain chart option. But with two codes for ice and two more for snow, and only five for rain, it seems to be designed for less temperate regions such as the UK.
On the downside, even though the app got a feature to email weather info to your friends, actually it sends only a link to the mobile website, from where they could download the application, rather than the weather details you have on your Blackberry screen. Also, there are no sunrise/sunset timings, or short term forecasts.
Conclusion
WeatherEye is a handy weather application to have, if you are in Canada. It is accurate for most parts, and it presents to the user all the basic weather info that one might need every day. The user interface is simple and readable, so are the different menus. A link to their mobile website means users can check them out if they happen to need more weather information. Overall, a must have app for your Blackberry.
