SoundTracking Free App for the iPhone

SoundTracking is a free app on the iTunes app store.  This app provides a great way to share music, snippets of a song along with a photo, location and more.  It builds a soundtrack for your life and lets you share it with others.  This app combines the best of social networking with music.  This is obviously something that has been missing from Facebook.  Myspace had it down pat, but who uses Myspace anymore?  If you liked the way that you could share music on Myspace, then you will appreciate this app.  You can like and tag playlists and share them with your friends on Facebook, Foursquare and Twitter.  You can also assign songs to your favorite venues, even add the kind of music that your favorite Starbucks normally plays.  This app simply adds another dimension to social networking that has been missing for some time.

If you don’t like apps that request huge amounts of information from your social networking programs then you may want to stay away from this one.  SoundTracking has to access a lot of information from Facebook, Twitter and Foursquare, so if you are uncomfortable with that aspect then don’t download.  Otherwise, download the app, try it out and see what you think.  It has some great features, but if you don’t care too much about music, then it will be pointless.

Ranking:

4/10, the idea for this app is great, but there are a few problems with this app.    It asks for a lot of permissions and that generally makes people feel very uncomfortable.  It was also released with a lot of bugs.  Some have been fixed, but others still need to be worked on.

Conclusion:

If you have been looking for an easy way to share musical moments on Facebook, then this is the app that you want.  It could use some work, but it is functional and does what it claims.  If you are a music lover then you will definitely appreciate what the app provides.  You can build in sound to the moments that are special in your life and even assign those songs to places that hold significance to you.  Add you and your significant other’s favorite song to the location where you first met.  The app was built for special things like that but can also just be used for fun and a great way to express your feelings with music.
